Dispatches from the front #9

All good things come to an end, they say.
I suppose there's an element of truth to the statement, though I prefer to see it as a pause in a continuum, rather than an end.

Celesta and I have just spent a glorious week together in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
She will return to Cape Town tomorrow (Mon 12 Jun).

The week was memorable for several reasons:
1) Celesta and I were reunited, for the first time since my departure, on the last day of the 11th week of this tour.
2) This was the first visit to the Vic Falls for both of us. The falls are truly deserving of its recognition as a Unesco World Heritage Site and as one of the 7 Wonders of the Natural World.
3) Sharing the experience of a visit to the falls with my wife, enjoying the views from the ground, as well as from the air, ranks as one of the highlights not only of this tour but of my entire life.
4) I enjoyed a week of genuine comfort - and priceless companionship - after living in a tent for the last two
weeks leading up to her arrival in Vic Falls. The last time I camped, prior to my arrival in Lusaka, was in Kosi Bay at the beginning of April.

We rounded out our visit to the region with a day tour, by bus, to the Chobe National Park in Botswana. The three-hour long game viewing cruise on the Chobe River, followed by a two-hour long game drive on the riverbank before returning to Zimbabwe, is highly recommended.

The route to date:

Day 67: Lusaka to Livingstone (466km)
Day 68 - 73: Livingstone
Day 74: Livingstone to Victoria Falls (30km)
Day 75 - 79: Victoria Falls
Day 80: Return trip to Chobe National Park (Botswana) - Victoria Falls,

    Groetnis & geniet elke kilometer!

    Groete,
    Cecil
